ASWSU GLOBAL

Strengthening Our Global Campus Community

Advocating. Enriching. Supporting.

Founded in 1998, ASWSU-Global was the first student government in the nation created to serve students earning their degree completely from a distance. The mission of ASWSU-Global has always been to give voice to Washington State University’s Global Campus student body.

After careful consideration and planning throughout the 2019-2020 academic year, ASWSU-Global adopted a new form of government that is structured to provide the events, leadership opportunities, resources, services and advocacy that Global Campus students have identified as their top priorities. ASWSU-Global has migrated from a traditional, student government format (president, vice president and senators) to an executive board with board members having clearly defined roles.

The Executive Board is composed of eight paid members, including president and vice president (the executive team that provides strategic direction) and directors in the following seven areas:

  • Communication and Compliance
  • Finance
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Promotions
  • Legislative Affairs
  • Events and Logistics

Students apply for positions and are selected by a committee of current student government leaders, Global Campus faculty and administrative staff.

Additionally, ASWSU-Global will continue to have representation on the Student Government Council of Washington State University, the official representative voice of the students attending all Washington State University campuses.
